NDUKA UZOMA

UGBORODO

I weep for you
I weep
yes I weep
not with a peep
right from the deep hollows
of my heart

I weep for you
without a sip of wine
in a faraway land.

Ugborodo
Oh! Ugborodo
silver and gold in your vault
yet the young and the old hunger
though Milk and honey
surge through aplenty
the fauna and the flora
perish in anger

Ugborodo
my Ugborodo
your hair withers in penury
and your foot
is jiggered by misery.
Your space smells
and your name hard to spell.
I weep for you.
