t is with joy and pride that I welcome you to the maiden issue of Sentinel
Poetry – the online  magazine of Sentinel Poetry Movement. It is my hope that in the coming months, this free-to-read magazine would become a must read at every poet’s computer desktop.

          This month features some astounding poetry from Obi Nwakanma, our special guest who has been kind to grant us an interview. Other poets in this issue include the Minstrel–Esiaba Irobi whose every word is a hand grenade. I was thrilled when Nduka Ejibe Nduka, a University Of Nigeria, Nsukka Mechanical Engineering graduate sent in one of his poems. I look forward to more from this very talented friend.

          Sentinel Poetry is your magazine, and all it needs to succeed is excellent
material. We are looking for great poems, essays, opinions, letters, reviews, books, poetry events, quotes from dead poets who live through their eternal verses, quotes from living poets, let us now record them for posterity, anything of quality and relevance that will help poetry grow, we will publish it, and all it should cost you will be an e-mail, come on, it’s got to be worth sending in.

We are now collecting materials for January 2003. Let’s start the new year with a bang.
